JOHN HARKER VESSELS IN LATER LIFE

REBUS STONE

Rebus Stone, launched at John Harker's shipyard in Knottingley on 17th January 1963 was in the process of undergoing an £80,000 refit which would give her as a minimum, another ten years life, when these images were sent in to us by Ian Cameron. The vessel was still engaged in the oil business, removing oily water from naval ships at Portsmouth dockyard.

Said Ian, "She is a grand old lady and still remarkably cheap to run due to her classification and cheap running costs. She is the oldest commercial vessel operating on the Solent and integral to the continuing success of our vessels."
